OMG AirServer

Trying out the free download of AirServer and amazed at how quickly I could mirror my iPhone on my computer. try it out yourself here: AirServer Download

It does work on PCs, too, but you need an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) to pair with it.

So, what can you do with it? Well, you can instantly demonstrate to students from your Mac or PC any app on your device, such as one with a presentation or a document. Turn it over to students and they can share their own presentations and research. It can instantly turn your classroom into a BYOD show and tell. I’m sure I need to think of some other things to do with it in education. Have you tried it? How do you use it?

I meant to add that the license (or licence) costs are ultra-reasonable.

  1. Well, nothing ever goes as smoothly on a PC as it does on a Mac, does it? I downloaded AirServer on my lab PC at work, hoping to be able to demo how it could be used in a BYOD session, but now the computer won’t go to the login page and I’m told it needs a new hard drive. Makes me look bad.
